Reliance cuts roaming tariffs; WiMax Plans

Continuing the intensified battle for wireless supremacy in India, Reliance Communications has introduced lowest ever roaming rates on certain plans.

Mr Shukla, President Wireless Business said,

The roaming rates had already been reduced in Feb 2007 for our customers. Now, we have taken a step further by reducing roaming rates to as low as 40ps/minute on select plans. This should add real value to those customers, who have a need for traveling across the nation. A significant feature of this rate reduction has been on Incoming Calls while roaming, which have been reduced from current Re. 1.75/min to Re. 1/min – so that our customers will not have to think before accepting incoming calls while roaming.

So how soon will Airtel and Vodafone respond to Reliance offer ?

Reliance has also intensified its WiMax broadband roll out plans in Bangalore and Pune.

  2. Hii all,

I have been using Reliance WiMax since one month. The speed is real good when I ‘CAN’ connect to Internet! I frequently encounter a problem where my comp. cannot reach their DHCP server, hence no dynamic IP generation. This results into no Internet. This happens almost thrice a week. I want to know if someone else is also facing similar problem with WiMax connection in Bangalore?

  3. Dear friend,
I shred my problem pls don’t go with reliance wi max

I get good single in my home building it working three day at very amazing light of speed on download is more then 50kbs. While I have more then ten computer in my cyber café.
But after 13 September 07 it not working due to DHCP problem……..
One of my friend he working in Reliance Broadnet he advice me you get “Static Ip” Fix ip from Reliance I log my compliant in reliance for static ip they charge Rs. 2000/- for one year for this ip after 13 sep 07 now 30 sep. I daily call in customer centre but I not get any perfect replay from this people.

From my friend he told me all reliance BTS tower is not configured for the internet.
We get internet connection our home to reliance BTS tower after that it route to fiber optic cable and it goes to reliance ISP.

But many of place on the road fiber is broken ………..

So pls don’t go with relaince wimax ……….

  4. I also have real bad experience with reliance wimax.

    1) DHCP server not reachable.

Whenever i try connecting to their network, it takes at least half an hour to get the dynamic ip address allocated. Day before yesterday i kept on trying for an hour with no luck. 🙁

So you can say the connection is not reliable and cannot use it when it really necessary like attending a meeting from home etc.

    2) Their customer care is pathetic.

When i had dhcp connection problems i tried calling the customer care. They told that they will escalate this issue to their technical devision and they will call me back. This happened two times and no one contacted me. So the third time i told them to transfer the call right then to a tech person. They agreed and put me on hold..and i was on hold for more than 10 mins and no one responded. I had to disconnect the call…:-(

  5. Hey people my reliance connection is working beautifully since day one. these problems could be area specific. Reliance representative informed me that they have installed another 16 towers totalling to 64 towers and their network has been stabilized for better. So all these initial DHCP issues should get solved by now and henceforth we should have good and reliable connection as the technology is intended to be. Hope reliance connections now onwards would be reliable as much as its affordable.

I also heard that TATA/VSNL is launching wimax by Nov first week with 140 towers covering entire bangalore. thats good news!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure now reliance has to buck up out of all these teething issues what they are going through.

  6. Nothing is resolved and Reliance is pathetic, they are putting up with their trend (seen in Reliance Mobile).

Their very design has many flaws, DHCP (a never ending story), ip conflicts, packet drops, average speed, auto disconnection, windows based(fucking unreliable) servers

Max attainable speed is never more than 50% of the plan (if you go with upto 2 mbps plans). I gaurantee nobody can ever show (any time of the day) a speed of more than 1 mpbs or a little more in reliance plans where they say upto 2 mbps.

Try BSNL it will always be more than 2 mbps even if they say upto 2 mbps

I am sure its just the choice of those who have no other option.

Trust me, BSNL inspite of being governemt’s is far more reliable and works twice as fast as any wimax connection.

Wimax will never be there when you urgently need internet or atleast you can’t be sure it is there and how long it will be there.

The customer care is just sitting their to fool around people and listen to our abuses.

The only thing they do well and in time is disconnect the service asap after due date, because most of the customers don’t pay, coz theservice is not OK.

If you have an option like AIRTEL or BSNL in your area never ever go with reliance.

Summarising its just for those who seldom use net and who have no other option (like BSNL and AIRTEL). Never go for it if you intend to work using the connection, it will never be there when you need it. Morever they will never be able to fix the problems nor even for 1 year or so to come.

Don’t trust me ? Try it out yourself.
