American telecom giant Motorola and Chinese gear manufacturer – ZTE have been disqualified from BSNL’s mega $5 Billion 3G GSM tender. Motorola and ZTE failed to meet the stringent technical norms. The vendors now in race are all the European telcos, Nokia, Ericsson and Siemens.
Part of the tender($1 Billion) has been reserved under the PSU category to ITI-Alcatel. Of the remaining 3 vendors, two of the lowest will be selected. The lowest bidder will get 60% of the contract and the second lowest wil get the remaining 40%. It is likely that, BSNL will make an announcement in this regard tomorrow or later this week.
