Reliance Communications in May had launched Simply Reliance Unlimited Calling Plan a bundle of Lies to take an innocent consumer on a ride. I filed an RTI with TRAI seeking details of this plan and the Fair Usage Policy bundled with it in fine-print. TRAI in its response [ Reference No 1(139)/2010 – RTI ] – said,
In this connection, it is intimated that the tariff plan by M/S Reliance Communications Limited which inter-alia fixed a cap on the unlimited usage of on-net and off-net calls in the form of Fair Usage Policy has not been approved by TRAI. A letter Dated 28th May 2010 advising M/S Reliance Communications Limited to immediately stop offering, presenting, marketing , advertising the tariff plan in this misleading manner has been issued.
I am really glad that I could stop Mr. Anil Ambani from looting customers. Lately I have been involved in two different projects and not getting enough time for Telecom Sector Coverage. If you know of any instances where RCom / Idea / Airtel/ Vodafone / etc are taking consumers for a ride, do write to TRAI or let me know and we shall put an end to this nuisance.
Congratulations on settings things right with a Telecom company. I hope they understand the power of RTI now.
Thank you TRAI for resolving this issue in a fair manner.
thank you sir for intervening and making them stop this plan.sir what is the procedure for filing a rti with trai? sir when will companies like docomo, uninor, etc will get 2g spectrum in delhi and what is the reason for this delay?
Airtel has similar unlimited plans with a fair usage policy. How do we get rid of them ?
Try TRAI 🙂
Very good, but there are a lot of other things that telcos should be made to withdraw. One is the usage of the cell info display for promotional messages. Instead of showing very useful location display, which also tells you which tower you are connected to, almost all telcos are now making you stare at their promotional messages.
We have DND for calls and SMSes. This kind of advertising should be made part of DND asap.
Hi,
I have been cheated by AIRTEL .I subscribed to their advance rental plan 256kbps @799+tax, for 5 months. I was never told that i cannot change my plan or upgrade my speed. Now they are not ready to upgrade my speed as the speed is very pathetic and when i try to connect remotely to my office network the speed is pathetic.
Please post the complaint to TRAI or provide me the email id, so that we can stop AIRTEL from cheating ppl by not providing complete info.
