The list of Applicants for 3G Spectrum Auction is out and as expected foreign Telcos have stayed out. No surprises in the list of contenders for 3G Wireless spectrum and the list is as follows,
- Bharti Airtel
- Aircel
- Etisalat DB [ Rumored to have bid understanding with Reliance]
- Idea Cellular
- Reliance Telecom
- Tata Teleservices [DoCoMo]
- Vodafone Essar India
- Videocon Telecommunications
For just 2 nation wide slots of BWA Spectrum in 2.3GHz we have 11 applicants in the fray– Terrific. Finally, after 5 years of empty talk on increasing the broadband base, we are a step closer towards our 20 mn subscribers dream 🙂 Here are the list of applicants for BWA Spectrum Auction in India,
- Aircel
- Augere Mauritius Ltd [ Operates in Bangladesh and Pakistan ]
- Bharti Airtel Ltd
- Idea Cellular
- Infotel Broadband Services Private Limited [Gurgaon company Mohali based, HFCL group company]
- Qualcomm Inc
- Reliance WiMax
- Spice Internet Service Provider Limited [ Recall, I said that Modi of Spice may spring in a surprise and he did 🙂 ]

So will these desperate operators drive the BWA Spectrum prices to dizzy heights, hold on let me discuss with RF experts and see how 3G winners will play this card as they maybe able to accommodate broadband users 🙂
