Reliance maybe the first to launch WiMax Broadband for consumers in Bangalore, but had some issues and coverage was limited. Tata Communications [erstwhile VSNL] has launched “Limited Edition Special Offer” Indicom Wimax Broadband in Bangalore. [Yes that’s right, the official launch and branding are still in pipeline].
Tata Communications WiMax Infrastructure in Bangalore:
Unlike Reliance Communications, which kicked off with less than 50 WiMax towers, Tata Communications debut will be with over 120 WiMax towers linking corners of “Namma Bengalooru” 🙂 I had read a lot about DHCP issues with Reliance. It is told that, the problem was with their server being unable to handle too many requests when the connections were reset, mostly when new towers were added [some kind of system reset was done]. Tata Indicom has been extremely cautious about it.
Tata Communications – Indicom WiMax Broadband Plans and Offer:
In this limited edition special offer, [I am not sure when it ends, but is likely to run atleast till Dec-31st] consumers can choose from Pre-Paid or Post-Paid plans. More details on plans available on broadband forum.
One of the other things I am really particular is customer support. Tata Communications call center will handle all support related issues. You may contact the following numbers to establish your connection – 99805 46805 / 98867 67690 / 93433 78853. So Bangaloreans, lets goBroabandddd 😉

Bala,
Thanks for ur reply. Anyway I didnt do anything and everything started working automatically, think thr was sm problem in base station. It started working on third night .
Since then its fine.. no problems… 🙂
I got a reliance wimax connection last month.By day one i am facing lot of problems.Wenhever u call cc they will tell some DHCP problem i.e y u unable to connect.
Once i called for tata wimax executive he told me that the dhcp problem is due to dynamic ip i,e.y tata providing static ip this problem will not be there. And he told that wimax is using low frequency signal i.e .y the signal will travell much distance so u need to be nearest to the tower. And he also told that reliance is come with 37 towers when they started but tata peop[le came with 140 odd towers from day one.
Please help me in this regard, I thionk that tata executive is right can i go ahead with tata wimax?
Please reply me soon, I need connection very badly.
Can anybody tell me wheather VSNL provides wimax Broadband in RT nagar,MLA layout??????????
Hi,
Please never go for TATA Wi Max connection. Its useless.
They gave the connection properly and I signed only after the registration is done.
After three weeks, everything stopped.
Need to call their customer care 60607070, wait for hours together to find a person online, then hold again for another contact for 30 minutes, then hold again for network team for 30 minutes. Finally says, the base station has the fluctuations and they resolve it. Works fine at that moment. Later, an hour, stops working. This is happening for a week now. Very worst service. Irresponsible staff and irresponsive solutions.
When asked to connect the manager, waits for 30 minutes and then says, sorry.. all lines are busy and so cannot connect to the manager.
When asked for the ETA of the base station frequency fluctuation issue, they fail to reply and apologize.
If they provide the connection properly, the after-services are worst. They never take care of the customers, just money from the customers.
Never go and face such problems with Tata Wi Max. You will loose your money as well as time, calling customer care lest leave hopes on the issues getting solved.
The base station frequency fluctuates regularly and no one attends to it.

Naresh R V
They kind of force you to pay in advance for four months. I have found one hack in refreshing the mac address of my router, but for each click while browsing, if you have to refresh your mac address, it doesn’t work. Also, VPN support is pretty bad — some VPN clients don’t at all work with this and some do, but then it disconnects so frequently, so you’ve to connect it back again.
Gosh!!! should have read this blog before. Just yest I registered online for feasibility of Tata WiMax in my area and today a guy called me explained the plans. Within an hr the mkting exec was here to collect the cheque and applicaiton. I paid 4 months adv for postpaid (changing the very definition of “postpaid”), and promised that the connection will be made within 3 days (hope so… oops noo pray sooo) coz i had dreadful experience with Tata Indicom BB (wired) at my earlier location.
Now after reading thru these blogs am seriously concerned about my money. Do you ppl advise me to stop cheque immediately. Will there be any consequences due to this? I opted for Tata as a last resort as no other ISP is offering services at my location 🙁
Buck up Airte, Reliance, BSNL to give a kick to Tata…
Spellbound!! is all what I can say!. Tata seems to be magical in its new customer acquisition dept. Before I can begin to wait.. i already got the WimaX connection up and running today. Speeds were quite satisfactory in the initial run. Hope the gud run continues…
Tata Indicom, you need to buck up on customer retention by providing proper and time assistance and resolution, if you are not already doing so.
Thank you for the quick service.
Am extremely sick of this tata wimax connection. For first month it worked well but in the second month i was flooded with problems. It comes as limited or no connectivity. Though i called customercare executives so for (10 days over and continuing) nothing has been done to fix it. Their technicians have conflicting opinions one says signal problem and other says antenna installation was improper. I never thought TATA co, will be giving such a disgusting service. Even in this post many ppl are wishing to sell their products but what about their maintenance..? Not interested..? If at all there is anyone to care for that plz verify complaint i already registered, complaint numbers are: 5199762 and 5239718

So there i am again! even before a week could go by before the installation of the much hyped Tata Wimax as feared its not working! and what more this too over a wknd. For getting thru the cust care it takes a min of whopping 40 mins. moreover we are expected to be sitting before the PC to check status real-time phew!! so we need to call from our mobile / home LL burning a hole in our pockets. And does this yeild any result? The answer is NO. You can’t expect any resolution sooo soon that too over a wknd. The funniest part is they mark the complaint as resolved citing ‘no problem at their end’ without bothering to check back with the customer. And each time they just buy more time by providing new complaint number.
The guy who installed the connection is out of scene now.. either keeps his mobile at home or cuts it. This guy had said he will come on wknd and mount the antenna in a proper place (on a wall) which was supposed to be done at the time of installation but was not done for the silly reason that the driller had broken. Now the antenna is installed precariously on a metal ralling and who is to blame / held responsible if this is stolen / spoiled?
Banners have been put up in the whole area offering 3 months free broadband. Guys.. for heaven’s sake plz DO NOT go for Tata Broadband. Its better off be without internet than to have this shit. Its time TATA mgmt takes notice and save their reputation before its too late. They’d better offer a connection FREE OF PROBLEM rather than FREE Broadband. Hope someone is hearing.
For the record my complaint no. is 5314092
I have tried both WIMAX TATA(2times) and Reliance(once) and believe me both are horrible!!
I am stuck wiith TATA 4month payment – no installation charge.
Reliance has connectivity and DHCP issue. They charge Rs. 2000 for static IP(good way to make lot of money!). I disconnected after 5 complains in 2 months without any of the complain resolved yet. Lot HOT of sessions with customer care.
Funniest thing with reliance customer care is: everytime you call, they will tell ” It will be resolved ASAP” no date and time to fix! I heard that constantly for 15 days. Doesnt matter if you talk to superwiser or executive, everyone is stupid and careless
I recommend never try reliance. even if the connectivity is improved, their customer care is most horrible I have ever seen.
Now I am with Tata(VSNL). I went with offer of zero installation charge on paying for 4 months rental(this is trick to get quick money). Executive will come to your place and promise BIG results and by abusing reliance. You get the connection real quick(1 day!)
But, after the connection made… wait and watch your internet getting disconnected 4-5 times every hour. you have to switch on/off power or reset connection from router/telnet.
I always heard great feedback of Airtel(not available in my area) and BSNL (when I called, they said it will take 3-4 months to get new connection).
I think we will have to wait for an MNC like Vodafone or Virgin mobile to come to broadband service for value to your money.
