Reliance maybe the first to launch WiMax Broadband for consumers in Bangalore, but had some issues and coverage was limited. Tata Communications [erstwhile VSNL] has launched “Limited Edition Special Offer” Indicom Wimax Broadband in Bangalore. [Yes that’s right, the official launch and branding are still in pipeline].
Tata Communications WiMax Infrastructure in Bangalore:
Unlike Reliance Communications, which kicked off with less than 50 WiMax towers, Tata Communications debut will be with over 120 WiMax towers linking corners of “Namma Bengalooru” 🙂 I had read a lot about DHCP issues with Reliance. It is told that, the problem was with their server being unable to handle too many requests when the connections were reset, mostly when new towers were added [some kind of system reset was done]. Tata Indicom has been extremely cautious about it.
Tata Communications – Indicom WiMax Broadband Plans and Offer:
In this limited edition special offer, [I am not sure when it ends, but is likely to run atleast till Dec-31st] consumers can choose from Pre-Paid or Post-Paid plans. More details on plans available on broadband forum.
One of the other things I am really particular is customer support. Tata Communications call center will handle all support related issues. You may contact the following numbers to establish your connection – 99805 46805 / 98867 67690 / 93433 78853. So Bangaloreans, lets goBroabandddd 😉

Don’t take TATA WiMax, there service is bad.
Never belief in their feasibility report, after 20 days they haven’t told me that it is not possible to do.
I am having a tough time getting my cheque back now. The customer service is sooooo bad.
If you have a choice stay away from TATA WiMax, I have heard my friend have problems with reliance WiMax also..
If you have AIRTEL broadband in ur area, DON”T EVEN THINK… AIRTEL is the BEST !! NO PROBLEMS and EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Recent news is that VSNL has been renamed as Tata communications because TATA groups took over the control from VSNL.
so now they introduced one toll free number also for the customer service. So i hope the great misery of calling up 60607070 and spending much will be reduced hereafter

Hi All,
I applied online for Tata indicom wimax broadband and luckily got it installed in three days only. The base station is close to my house so speed was awesone. Everything was fine on first day but suddenly on second day it stopped working, showing unidentified network for the LAN. Mine is a static IP with infinity 256 plan (User Id: mostvisited ) and have paid 4 months rental in advance. Its a pain to call customer care as they will force u to listen sm crap music. Somehow i got a rep online and explained my problem he told me to clear cache , cookies and everything ..in middle call was disconnected and since then i m trying only bt nt able to reach any cc guy.Its third day now. After reading the reviews and posts i m afraid whether the problem will be fixed ever… If anyone have faced this problem please let me knw the workaround.
Thanks,
This is in Regard to the most recent blog by Mr. Vishal Anand. If you have read my earlier blogs again, I faced the similar problem earlier. Only difference in I am having dynamic IP (prepaid)
For me also during browsing itself, it will lose connection and will get connected to unidentified network. (shown with yellow exclamation mark on LAN status). Hope u r using VISTA OS.
U kindly try to check your signal strength on ur own by going into modem setup page.. Then you can confirm whether there is problem in signal or some other problem..
Because most of the tiems even when signal is good, there are some problems with base station itself.
I WANT A BROAD BAND/WIMAX CONNECTION FOR MY SHOP. PLEASE COME TO ME & HAVE A LOOK.

Hi all,
I am facing the so called “frequent disconnection” as well. The funniest side of it is that, whenever I refresh the mac address of my router, the connection works again, sometimes for the next 1/2 hour, sometimes for the next 10 seconds (today it is particularly bad, the timeout is happening in 10 secs or so). When I called the customer service, they only guided me to test without the router, and then it worked. But I cannot believe it can be the problem with my router, because I have two of them, both of which worked perfectly well with static ip (hathway) and dhcp (airtel) before.
To say it in more detail, when it seems disconnected, it cannot even ping the dns servers, the gateway, or even the tata indicom login page. when I refresh the mac address of the router, it starts working again. it also works if I change the mac address of the router and save the settings, so I don’t think it is storing the mac address for authentication.
any idea how to solve this problem?
