Early August I had written about Toll Free Number incompatability between various operators. Every operator was allowed to have its own 1-800 series, but the number reachable from a phone within its own network only. Companies like Dell opted for a Toll free number on BSNL network due to the number of subscribers BSNL has and hence private operators like Reliance Communications Ltd and Bharti Tele-ventures Ltd are now forced to tie-up with BSNL and sort the issues.
BS reports that Reliance has sorted out the 1800 toll free calling issue with BSNL and is in talks with all other operators to help its consumers enjoy the benefit of Toll Free calling. Atlast someone in Dhirubhai Ambnai Knowledge City is listening to customers.
