What is MingleBox ? A dedicated social networking platform for Indians only. Though still in Alpha, the site is fully functional with Blogs, Photos, Groups and Campus features. The company plans to mature as a next generation media company making the best use of technology.
Mingle background: I had a chance to sit with the founders, who have a terrific background and a classic example for “Doers Profile“. MingleBox is the outcome of their entrepreneurial desires. The formidable four converged at Bangalore, India and started MingleBox operations earlier this year. Their informal survey suggested that not many Indian high-school and college kids are interested in the traditional media (TV) and are going online or mobile. It hasn’t taken long time for their Lead Developer, Mr. Sanjay to get the site up and running who was also a Search Engineer at Yahoo! They are fully aware of the Mobile Phone revolution in India and you can expect a cool feature (MingleMobile) that will be unveiled pretty soon. I am confident that it will have the WOW! effect on it’s users :-).
MingleBox.Com: The site is localized and is closed ended unlike MySpace or Yahoo! 360. You need to be a member to browse the site which they said was done keeping privacy issues in mind, really especially for the Indian women. The community can get rid of unwanted or hate messages by flagging them. MingleBox community is unique as it helped users create and exchange information on current festivals and events, for instance the Navaratri Dandia and Durga Pooja. Some Paparazzi 😉 has also uploaded the pictures of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao wedding at Panchagani 🙂
MingleBox is seed funded by founders and their associates and will always be free for users. They intend to make money by advertisng and another platform which is a closely held secret. The sign-ups opened last month and have conisderable number of users(in Thousands). However, their are not many passive users which is keeping Sanjay on his feet. MingleBox formally has a 6 day week and the team has high level of energy with the zeal to make a difference in the Indian e-Media. can some one provide me more info about phonelinx.com , i came across this company at tie isb connect in hyderabad.i guess this company is developing an interactive platform for mobile users across the globe.
I have used minglebox.com and trust me my experience has been way below my expectations.
There are random messages by people you don’t want to interact with and the fact that minglebox allows everyone to sign up defeats the purpose of Privacy, so i don’t understand what privacy is being talked about.
Coming up with Social networking in india exclusively is a fab idea…i thnk its super cool!
but not the wya Minglebox is doing it…coz id rather be on myspace then coz there aint no differentiation as such !

You can edit the settings of your space on MingleBox and can grant access accordingly.
For Homepage, it can be friends or public
For Blog, it can be private or friends or public
etc…
And the message part, which you are most concerned about, change settings to “friends” so other can’t ping you. I think everyone should be allowed to sign-up but then they can probably add one more feature “Leave me alone” Leave my group alone” etc…

the site seems 2 b okay…actually nuthin great…it has all the usual features which a social networking site has…speakin bout d topic, bigadda.com is a website which is goin 2 b launched very soon and it promises 2 b the next BIG thing…in the meantime, u can access hte site n vote 4 which logo best suits d site, of the options of logos given 2 u…now only time will tell how this 1 turns out 2 b…
