Minekey a Silicon Valley based startup with R&D center at IIT Kharagpur has developed a unique Recommendation Widget based on behavioral targeting.
As a publisher, one can signup with RSS feeds and display it on blog or website. They will be tracking user browing habits through a cookie collecting and analyzing data. Dr. Sudeshna Sarkar, CTO of Minekey, pursuing research in Information Retrieval said,
The Minekey recommendation engine employs sophisticated algorithms to recommend items to a user based on a user’s own interests, as well as the context of the current page. The algorithm also incorporates many other features including interests of the user community, the dynamics of theme evolution, a user’s short and long term interests, personalization affinity of the user, etc.
It would be nice to see some more Web 2.0 companies backed by Researchers. Minekey has also raised Series A funding and I am wondering how are they going to make money out of these Widgets ? Embed Ads ? Or become a platform like Digg / Sphere ? Your thoughts ?

I work for Minekey so thank you for covering Minekey. In terms of generating revenue, we building a network so we offering our widget free to bloggers. For larger publishers, they will have to pay to use our recommendations service/engine.
I hope you get a chance to try it the widget on your own blog. Let me know if you need any help.
