Tencent, the creators of China’s Most popular next generation IM Platform WeChat recently launched the latest version of its mobile security app, Mobile Guanjia.
What’s So Special about Guanjia?
According to Tencent, most of QQ account theft is caused by log-in malware or the use of virus-infected public computers in offices, internet cafes, etc. The new Mobile Guanjia enables users to use their QQ account in less reliable environments without typing their password via a PC’s keyboard, thus avoiding this common form of leakage of password knowledge.
First of all, Tencent has already incorporated a QR code on the log-in pages of all the services requiring QQ accounts such as QQ Messenger, QQ Mail and QQ Mall, etc. Users scan their QR code with Mobile Guanjia and then enter their QQ password into the app to fully log-in on a PC. As such, no keyboard actions are can be recorded by malware.
How Mobile Guanjia Protects WeChat Users ?
Mobile Guanjia has become the first mobile security app to offer WeChat-specific protection. Tencent has recently observed several WeChat-hijacking forms of malware and a range of viruses, which steal WeChat accounts and send often compromised URL’s to one’s friend list and onto WeChat Moments. Mobile Guanjia is able to scan and delete such viruses and to warn users should compromised URL’s be displayed on their WeChat Moments or sent to them by public accounts or friends.
Other Features of Mobile Guanjia App
Mobile Guanjia 4.1 also offers users some valuable tools to improve their smartphone experience; Data Usage for Apps– monitoring data usage, blocking advertising calls and safekeeping private files. Users are able to check their cumulative data usage in order to prevent overage charges on their bills. Users can also leverage this feature to oversee and limit data usage associated with each app. Do Not Disturb Feature – Mobile Guanjia is able to alert users when receiving advertising-oriented phone calls by referencing a cloud-based ad number database. Data Security – With regard to privacy protection, users can store their messages, photos, videos, etc. in a built-in “safe” within Mobile Guanjia, one with password protection.
Guanjia and related SaaS or Mobile Apps as a Service to protect and enhance the user experience of its customers is a great move, much on the lines of Qihoo.
