Global SmartPhone leader Samsung, riding on the Android wave is also trying to build an Apps & Web Services platform. In the same direction the company is said to be gaining traction with its Samsung ChatOn service – Multi Platform mobile communication messenger, which supports the popular Android, Blackberry, iPhones, Samsung Bada and Windows Mobile. Unlike Blackberry which only lets users communicate with another on its platform, ChatOn can be used to buzz your friends on any of the above platforms as long as they install the required App.
ChatOn is tied to your Mobile Number and you can import all the contacts from your Address Book and is served in 120 countries in 60+ languages. Additionally, a web client is offered for access to the service via web browsers for users without a supported smartphone platform to chat via desktop and their account is tied to the Samsung account.
To enhance the ChatOn experience and taking the services to the next level, Samsung has recently added more features which tells us that it maybe heading towards making Samsung ChatOn to be a Micro Social Network
- Trunk – With the help of Trunk, users can comment and share content to Facebook
- Buddies Say – Friends can post a comment on your profile
- Group Chat – Broadcast your message to several friends at once
- Animated Messages – Express yourself to the highest degree with animated messages, your handwritten drawings, different texts, audio, background images, etc
- Anicon – Lets the new generation kids communicate with animated emoticons
- Interaction Rank – Displays the top 3 buddies with whom the user interacts with.
