The Nokia Forum has announced that the Symbian OS will be cremated by Dec-12 paving way for a Nokia and Microsoft partnership to work. It is evident to me that Steve Ballmer injected the deadly Microsoft Virus into the Nokia and scheduled its termination like Cancer disease. Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia was former President @ Microsoft Business Vertical.
Lets have a quick look at Nokia and its Indian connection. Nokia setup a dedicated manufacturing unit in India realizing the market potential and the slew of concessions it got from then Telecom Minister, Dayanadhi Maran. Nokia setup a great retail network for reaching the end consumers. However, Nokia’s Service Center performance was unsatisfactory.
Third Rate Customer Care of Nokia India – For this to prove, I don’t have to look or hear what others have to say. After having bought an expensive N Series phone which died just days after the 12 Month warranty, the company was unwilling to listen to my problem. The only way I could touch base with Managers was to send e-mails, but in vain. My Question to Fu**ing Managers at Nokia – Why do you have a differential Warranty Policy for India and Europe ? 12 months for Indians and 24 Months for Europeans ? I wanted to take up this issue with the MRTPC but the Officers there are highly Corrupt and I would have found them a way to make money instead of addressing the problems of Indian Consumers. Arrogance of Nokia – Nokia Managers didn’t listen to me, fine. However, Nokia even failed to listen to the Business Research that pointed out the needs of Indian Consumers in 2009-10 – Affordable Handsets with Dual SIM Cards and MicroMax mobiles en-cashed upon this opportunity and has an enviable market size in India today.
Nokia Lost the Platform Battle Early – Another reason I Love to hate Nokia and have always argued with everybody is the unwillingness of Symbian to open up[ I am from the Internet Era and Love Openness at all Levels], they finally did after they heard about Android. Nokia would have been in a much better shape by now, had they joined hands with Android.
Can Microsoft Windows Platform + Nokia Win ? Microsoft’s Windows mobile is a decade old and has failed to take off after several re-launch efforts. Microsoft sure has a history of building Corporate Software Productive Suites, but they failed here as Blackberry stole the show and now Apple and Android based devices are giving cut throat competition. Like the old saying goes, Birds of the Same Feathers Flock Together, Microsoft is a Loser and Nokia is a Titanic, Can Two Losers Make a Winner ? What Say ?
You were so Right, After Nokia’s Recent Results Announcement, the Acute pressure on Nokia’s Symbian smartphone portfolio – volumes fell 40% sequentially and gross margins fell below 15.6%.
