India’s leading integrated telco, Bharti Airtel’s winning streak of QoQ growth in Revenue / Net profit, Market share etc has come to an end – Courtesy: Disruptive Telecom Tariffs by New GSM Operators 🙂 Quarterly Net profit is down 7.5% on a QoQ basis from Rs25,646 mn to Rs 23,716mn. Wireless ARPU is on a vertical fall as it dipped 10% QoQ from Rs 278 to Rs 252. Recall, Bharti Airtel management had downplayed the tariff war by new operators and we are seeing the results now 🙂 Here is a quick peek into the results.
- Revenue down to Rs 97013 mn from Rs 98102 mainly due to fall in wireless segment from Rs 82285 mn to Rs 80994 mn
- Telemedia revenues flat on a QoQ basis. Enterprise Services sees marginal increase in QoQ revenues. 50% of Telemedia services employees laid off during the quarter as its strength dropped from 9514 to 4705
- Wireless Subscribers Market Share down to 23.5% [ again loses the winning streak]
- Average MoU down to 450 from 478 a quarter ago
- Airtel Pre-paid churn increases to 4.6% from 3.5% in Q2
- Airtel Broadband subscribers reached 1.19 mn with an ARPU of Rs 989 down from Rs 1027 reported in Jun-09 quarter.
- Airtel Digital TV operations still in Red. Management hides the numbers by clubbing them with corporate office expenditure.
As Mr. Aga of Idea Cellular said, seasonally weak quarter and will Mittal blame it on poor monsoon too ? Stay tuned.
