aQuantive a Seattle based advertising company is acquired by Redmond giant at a premium of 85%. Shares of aQuantive soared 78% in early trading hours. Microsoft is paying $6 Billion in cash for the acquisition. Microsoft had suffered another setback when 24/7 Real media was acquired by WPP. Looks like Sun Tzu’s strategy has worked very well for Google, If your enemy is angry, annoy him distract him 🙂
Microsoft has been trying to compete with Google’s AdSense since 2005 without any luck. aQuantive boasts of “Fat” clients such as Ford, Verizon, Capital One and Microsoft. WTF ?? Fat clients – Clients with deep pocket who snap the entire advertising space on your web property. My 2 cents, Google AdSense became a popular advertising platform because it gave an opportunity to hundreds of thousands of small and medium businesses to target their Ads. These SMBs didn’t have deep pockets and were yet able to make a exponential difference in their topline and bottomline after using Google AdSense.
