Indian IT Minister has proposed to setup 8 Telecom Centres of Excellence in a unique Public-Private partnership model. The proposed centres will be focus on some vertical of Telecom.
Prominent among the eight are – IIT,Chennai along with Reliance Communications Ltd to work on Telecom Infrastructure, Energy and Rural Applications. IIT Kharagpur in association with Vodafone Essar will focus on next generation telecom and network technology. IISc Bangalore [a.k.a Tata Institute] in association with Tata Indicom/Telecom will work on Security and disaster management technologies.
