Reliance Communications Ltd today launched Reliance Mobile Pocket PC PPC 6700 targetting SMEs and corporate customers in India. Reliance Mobile is powered by Microsoft Corp’s Windows Mobile and technology on the IP side being developed by UTStarcom Inc. Bharti Tele-ventures Ltd already has similar service up and running since August but I am unsure of Video capabilities.
This service will have capabilities of data and video transmission up to 144 kbps and average download speeds ranging from 60-80 kbps. The phone is CDMA EV-DO ready and has Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Other key features include a 1.3 mega pixel camera with video capture, miniSD card slot, touch screen, speakerphone, and the full suite of Windows Mobile 5.0 software (Mobile Office – Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Speaking at the launch, Prakash Bajpai said,
The Reliance Mobile Pocket PC is a step forward in our endeavor to provide the best and most competitive services that harness technology for enhancing effectiveness. We are confident that the enriched features, easy-to-use applications and high-speed download capabilities of the device will add significant value to the upwardly mobile customers on Reliance Communications’ network and offer them the ability to integrate their business applications seamlessly across the broadband infrastructure to mobile use.
