Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited known throughout the world for its unique and successfull telecom business model has done it for the third time. This time, Bharti Airtel Ltd has outsourced its WAP Systems and Network contract worth $400 Million to Nokia. Earlier in August, Bharti had extended its outsourcing contract to Ericsson.
Nokia has merged its network operations with Siemens and incidentally Sunil Bharti Mittal before leaping into mobile services business was manufacturing handsets in India in collabration with Siemens. In an interview to Gita Piramal, Sunil Mittal had said,
It took nearly 10 years for Bharti to lay 10,000 mobile towers and this year alone we will be laying the next 10,000 and within 3 years we will have around 50,000 towers.
[I am not sure when the video was recorded, 2005 or 2006]. It’s a fantastic video on the organic growth of Bharti under Sunil Mittal. In a separate development, Edelweiss Research has upgraded Bharti Airtel Ltd from Accumulate to Buy.
