Bharti Airtel’s Q2 revenue just short of $1 Billion

Bharti Airtel Limited, announced its quarterly results for the quarter ending Sept-30-2006. Its Q2 revenue fell just short of $1Billion at $968 Million.

It now has 21.4% of India’s Mobile Subscriber Market share with ARPU of Rs 438 down from Rs 441 in Q1. However, it has added record number of subscribers since its existence – 4.11 Million customers in Q2 of which 90% are in the pre-paid segment.

Bharti-Airtel Limited is a great company one should own in their portfolio, mainly because of the transperncey in operations and accounting, unlike it’s peer, Reliance Communications Limited which is very opaque in the results and financial statements it provides to the public. Repeated requests sent to the Reliance to disclose its Mobile subscriber base went unanswered. I think its mainly because Reliance is not growing at the same rate as Bharti did and that’s why Reliance is manipulating those figures by combining fixed wireless phone subscribers with mobile subscribers.
