Arzoo.Com, name sounds familiar ? Yes if you are a Dot Comer. It was a company started by Hotmail founder, Sabeer Bhatia to provide companies around the globe access to technology experts who would offer real-time assistance in solving complex problems. Soon after the Dot Com bust, the company shutdown. Nostalgic remains of the original Arzoo (desires) can be seen here 😛
Sabeer’s Arzoo is reborn and this time around he has ventured into Online Travel, Ticketing, Hotels and Holiday reservation business. What ? Sabeer the whiz kid is doing this ? Well, that’s what the website says, go check it out.
The Indian travel space is a bit overcrowded with too much VC money flowing into it. MakeMyTrip, TravelGuru, TripYogi, Yatra, Kayak and B G Mahesh( co-founder IndiaInfo.com) backed HolidayMaker.in are the ones I can recall at this hour (1:00 AM). Apart from these, the airlines themselves are operating their own websites – AirDeccan, SpiceJet, Indian, KingFisher, JetAirways and others offering heavy discounts. I would have been really impressed if Sabeer had solved some complex problem of his stature just like these kids from Bangalore have by founding RedBus.in. Maybe Sabeer is planning a travel search engine or B2B initiative like Sabre Holdings 🙂 I really hope he does something big and beautiful like that and I don’t want to see Arzoo MatchMakng or Arzoo Classifieds which are buzzwords of any Bangalorean developer operating from his garage.
