Anil Ambani controlled, Reliance Communications subsidiary Flag Telecom today connected India, Middle East and the Europe by Falcon. Falcon has an initial capacity of 90GigaBits which can be scaled to 2.5 TeraBits. Falcon will be further connected to the Flag Global Network which would now become the largest undersea cable system in the world, as Falcon adds 11,589 kms to the existing network of 54,000 kms.
Another Indian company which has interests in International Bandwidth, VSNL is also investing around USD360 million to connect India to the Middle Eastern market. Reliance has pre-sold 50% of the capacity of FALCON and has entered into long term bandwidth contracts with OmanTel, Integrated Telecom, QTel, Batelco, Telecom Egypt, YemenTel and MoC Kuwait.
Reliance will very soon join the league of “Emerging Asian Telecom Giants” with global presence. Currently has significant interests in the lucrative Middle East market as it unveiled RiTV for them in June this year.
